Sister Angelina [Italian: Suor Angelina] (14 October 1871 - 2 June 2000) was an Italian-American longevity claimant and nun whose age has not been validated. She was also an immigrant who immigrated to the United States in the 1940s.
Biography[]
Sister Angelina was born in Foce, Genoa, Liguria, Italy on 14 October 1871. She joined a church at the age of 18 in 1889 and became in nun in 1900, aged 28. She joined a convent in 1901 and later became a leader in the convent in the 1930s.
In 1944, the convent developed financial difficulty and was unable to continue. This caused an extreme financial depression among the nuns and in 1945, they decided to sell the convent. They donated half of the money to the nearby church and used the rest to come to America and purchase a trailer in New Jersey. At this point they tried to start a convent but it was unsuccessful.
Finally in 1950 they were able to start one. At this point Sister Angelina was about 80 years old. She was the oldest member of the convent but over the next ten years, all four of the other sisters died. Sister Angelina was still in great shape at this point so she sold the convent again and joined another nearby one, donating all of the money to it.
After 30 years in that convent in 1980, Sister Angelina moved to a different one in Trenton, Pennsylvania, USA where she would stay for the rest of her life. Having arrived at the age of 108 years, she was immediately treated as a superior and given a supervision duty. Sister Angelina's health remained good until she approached her mid 120s. At the age of 125, Sister Angelina retired from duties but continued to live in the convent until her death.
Sister Angelina died in the convent in Greenwood and Hamilton, Trenton, Mercer, Pennsylvania, USA on 2 June 2000 at the age of 128 years, 232 days. She was returned to Italy and interred in her hometown.
