Biography[]

Early Life[]

Noemi de la Fumadora was born in Santiago do Norte, Mato, Brazil no earlier than 2 October 1859. Her family were farmers in the mountains.

de la Fumadora married her husband in 1877 and had 2 children. She later went on to have 4 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, 10 great-great-grandchildren, 15 great-great-great-grandchildren, 22 great-great-great-great grandchildren, 32 great-great-great-great-great grandchildren, 40 great-great-great-great-great-great grandchildren and 3 great-great-great-great-great-great-great grandchildren.

Noemi de la Fumadora lived in Santiago do Norte until 1890 when her husband died. At this point she moved to Asa Sul. It was around this time that Noemi started doing zulu because she enjoyed the buzz. This is an herb that is sniffed up the nose. This caused Noemi's weight to double from 100 pounds to 200 pounds and she was only 5 foot 4. Noemi quit zulu in 1901 but shook for the rest of her life due to the brain alterations.

The reason that Noemi's last name is, "de la Fumadora" is because Noemi's mother smoked a lot. The name literally means, "from the smoker." Noemi's mother died of a suffocation at the age of 45 in 1885 when Noemi was about 25 years old. At their house there was an oak tree in the backyard and Noemi's mother would go out there everyday and roll up the oak leaves and smoke them. By the end of her life she was smoking constantly and died due to suffocation after inhaling smoke for 20 hours straight.

Noemi opened up her house to teaching history in the 1920s. Anyone could come to her house and talk to her or talk amongst themselves. One time hooligans came to her house and wrecked the place. Noemi hated this and tried to get them out of her home. They kidnapped Noemi and took her to a hideout. She was tied to a door and mocked. Noemi gave a speech on Brazilian history and was released. She also taught people about couple moments.

Later Life[]

Noemi lived very healthy into her later life. She took care of nine generations of descendants and she took care of even her great-great grandchildren as they grew older and died.

Noemi's family was very disrespectful towards her and often desecrated her. Noemi was helpful but lost the temper. She knew she had a responsibility but she would get very angry too. Noemi would set fires if people made her mad.

Noemi was very healthy into her old age. She could travel around Brazil (though she never left it) and she would walk unassisted. She owned a two story house that she took care of on her own. Her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren took over her house in the 1970s and made her live in the woodshed. They were not nice to her and made her take care of seven chickens. Noemi exploded one day, there was a scuffle and the house was on fire. Noemi moved all of her stuff out and bought another house.

Some neighbors brought some kids to her house one time to learn Noemi's native language. The kids were very rude to Noemi and told her that she was an idiot. This is when Noemi was in her 120s. Noemi called the parents to get the kids and cussed them out. Noemi was that kind of person, she would help you but get angry if anyone hurt her feelings.

The only relative that Noemi got along with was her great-great-great granddaughter, Fauva. Noemi had Fauva living with her in the 1930s and 40s and would take care of Fauva. Some adults bothered Fauva one time and Noemi threw a pot of steaming soup at them and told them to go to the eastside.

Death[]

Noemi felt as though the years hadn't touched her. When she was in her 130s she was doing very well. In August 1999, Noemi went to the hospital for a normal procedure to check her health. She had just come back from a vacation in Rio and came from her house to the hospital. Her great-great-great-granddaughter, Fauva brought her to the hospital.

After arrival, Noemi was doing very well and she was greeted by many people who marveled at her longevity and good health. The procedure went fine and Noemi was doing fine until two days after it when she suddenly collapsed while walking to the bathroom.

She was helped back to her bed but doctors couldn't figure out what was wrong with her. Eventually they discovered that she had a bacterial infection so they tried to give her antibiotics. However, these failed. After all this it was determined to be a very simple infection. Noemi's health began to fail. Fauva who was 60 moved into the hospital with her.

The disease eventually left her body but went to her mind. She became very active and lost a lot of weight. She shaved off her dyed blonde hair and she was caught wandering at night. Fauva was very nervous and took care of Noemi constantly. Eventually Fauva had to go into a mental nursing home due to a nervous breakdown over her great-great-great grandmother.

Noemi got very sick in early 1999 and had to have a bilateral leg amputation. She could no longer walk. Noemi lost her lungs in August 1999 and dwindled down to 70 pounds though she used to weigh 200 pounds. No one came to visit Noemi because they were angry at her illness. Noemi no longer spoke.

In September 1999, Noemi entered hospice care at the same hospital where she had lived for over a year. She may have died somewhere between January 2000 and June 2000. Her death date was reported many different times. Noemi's house was emptied and turned into a giant mausoleum for her.
