Biography[]
Dangun, named Wang Jian, is widely considered the founding monarch of Dan Jun Joseon in the legendary book "Three Kingdoms".
According to "The Legacy of Three Kingdoms", Wang Jian was born from the union of Huanxiong and Xiongnu. According to legend, Dangun established the "Korean Kingdom" - House code South Korea in 1950 BC. which means "the country of tranquil dawn". Seoul’s capital, so Pyongyang is nicknamed the King's City.
It is claimed that Dangun reigned for 1550 years. After his abdication, he then lived in the mountains in Asda until his death in 39 BC.
In 1993, North Korea claimed that the bones of Dangun had been unearthed and said, "Dangun is certain to exist." North Korea then designated October 3 of each year as "National Foundation Day". South Korea also has a festival, called "Kaitian Festival"., to worship Dangun.

The story of Dangun as we know it today originated from the ancient Korean book "The Hallows of the Three Kingdoms", written in the 13th century. Based on the oldest version of the book, "Zhengde Ben", Dangun's account is recorded as follows form: “Wei Shu says: For the past two thousand years, there have been many kings at the altar. Dangun is the founding father of North Korea. At the same time as Gao. Gu Jiyun. The ancient god Huanyin (ie Emperor Shiye) concubines Huanxiong.”
The previously written quote may not make sense but that is because it is translated to English from across time and is hard to make totally accurate. Also, Dangun has been considered a myth by some and is not necessarily certain to exist. If the story is true, Dangun may have truly died at the age of 1910.
